Leap is a new gesture-based platform that has the potential to completely change the way we interact with computer screens. Much like Microsoft Kinect replaced gaming controllers with hand and body gestures, Leap replaces standard keyboard strokes and mouse clicks with physical, 3D movements. 

There are a number of added benefits this interface provides. For example, the platform allows for more precision than a mouse and more sensitivity than a touchscreen. Users can also interact with 3D content on the computer screen using both hands, making the device useful for product development, 3D mapping and more.

It is no question that the Microsoft Kinect is a success. It is one of the fastest selling gadgets ever and has been proven useful in a wide range of scenarios thanks to the hacker community. Whether or not Leap will enjoy the same success is unknown, but the prognosis seems promising.
