The beginning weeks of the autumn (or spring) season can seem like the Goldilocks of weather. It's too warm for sweaters! It's too chilly for cut-offs! Thus is the struggle of those who want to dress snappy, yet comfortably, during the first brisk moments of fall. If, like me, you are wont to overcompensate with cable knit in mid-September, you may benefit from using Wevther, a location-based clothing recommendation website built on the Svpply API.

The basics: given your location (manually entered or detected by the site), Wevther provides you with local weather conditions and several recommendations for appropriate clothing & accessories. Selections are plucked from Svpply users' collections and estimated by an algorithm that sorts by temperature and location. Look at Wevther like Pinterest for the weather: curated content laid out in a visually pleasing manner, with an e-commerce layer to boot.

I have to say that in my case, Wevther's suggestions have been on point for the past week. If I find myself sweating in my cable knit come next Friday, I have no one to blame but myself.

Give the Perfect Gift with Wantful

Father’s Day is this Sunday and, if you’re like most of us, work can take a toll on the time you get to spend shopping. This year I shopped for my father via the gift-giving site Wantful, which allows users to create a booklet of items chosen by you that you think your recipient would like. It’s extremely helpful when you get to the point where the friend/family member in your life “has everything,” and the last thing you want to do is get them another tie, pair of socks, or bath robe.

Buffer: A New Way to Engage Followers

If there’s one old adage that applies to social media engagement, it’s that “timing is everything.” Engagement is usually higher at certain times and identifying those times is relative to a slew of variables. When scheduling Tweets, do you often find yourself wondering if you've made it for the best time possible? Perhaps there is an easier way.

Buffer is an app that allows you to schedule posts for your social networks based on times that they have calculated as being your most engaging.

Loading posts into Buffer is extremely easy, as the app has plug-ins for any browser. Once you've found an article or post that you’d like to share, you can let the app do the scheduling for you and send it to your Buffer feed, or you can choose to manually post it yourself. Regardless of how your posts get sent, Buffer keeps a running tab of analytics for each one. Basic (free) accounts are able to see how many clicks, retweets, and potential reach each post receives, while upgraded accounts get additional stats like @mentions and favorites.

What Makes Love True by Tiffany & Co.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Tiffany & Co is promoting their “What Makes Love True” campaign featuring user-generated images and stories of love. This is available via website and a free downloadable iPhone app. Additional content featured includes exclusive love songs, helpful advice/quotes, and an interactive map where users can recap a romantic moment and share where it happened (New York City and Paris locations only).

The mobile application also features an exclusive Tiffany blue filter for users to use on their own photos (featured in center image above). Similar to the #Marcfam campaign by Marc Jacobs, this program has no direct mention of product or sales promotion but is a strategic execution to help personify the brand’s lifestyle through its consumer's interpretation.

With professional photo editing programs like Instagram available to the everyday consumer at no cost, brands now trust one’s ability to create beautifully edited images that look similar to, if not better than their own print advertising. It’ll be interesting to see if Tiffany’s repurposes some of the beautiful content living on this site for their traditional advertising.
