Although they're probably not going to garner the kind of attention Radiohead received when they launched the pay-as-you-wish In Rainbows album, Oasis did get creative with the launch of their latest album, Dig Out Your Soul. Last week, the band enlisted the help of New York City subway musicians to promote the new record, which is due out in the U.S. on October 7th.
Fifteen MUNY performers met Oasis band members for rehearsal time before hitting subway stations where they brought new Oasis songs to the NYC transit masses. The musicians worked their unique styles into the Oasis songs.
One of the musicians involved in last week's subway event told NYCVisit.com how important it was to have this take place in New York City.
“If they couldn’t hit the rest of the world, all they have to do is stand on one street corner in New York and they’ve traveled around the world twice,” said blues artist Luke Ryan.
