The pressure is on as you sit at your desk, wildly typing away on your computer's keyboard. You count down the minutes as the tight deadline you're working against approaches. You're stressed to the max.
*Ping*! Another notification pops up on your computer screen, stealing precious time and attention that should be spent getting things done. The agony!
Researchers at the Graduate University of Advanced Studies in Japan must know what this type of situation feels like. They are working on a technology that silences distractions like pop-ups, notifications and pings when it senses that the user is in 'the zone'.
The technology monitors keyboard pressure and has shown an 80% accuracy rate during volunteer tests. Moving forward, researchers plan to apply this method to similar scenarios where a user does not welcome any form of distraction, like when they're reading lengthy documents. We're looking forward to trying out this type of technology once a product hits the market!
