Today on WSAV Tech Tuesday, we talk about Just Landed, an iPhone app that promises to make picking someone up at the airport much easier.
How does Just Landed work?
Just Landed is very easy to use. All you have to do is enter the flight number you wish to track and Just Landed will tell you when you need to leave for the airport. You'll even get two reminders: the first one five minutes before you need to leave and the second one when it's time to leave.
How does Just Landed know when to tell you leave for the airport?
Just Landed monitors 3 things to calculate your drive time:
- Your current location. Because the app uses the GPS from your phone, it doesn't matter where you are when you set up tracking for a flight. It knows where you are and adjusts accordingly.
- Flight information from the airlines. If a flight is going to be early, late, or delayed, the app will send you a push notification with that information.
- Current traffic conditions. If traffic is bad, the app will take extra drive time into account.
Is there anything you don't like about the app?
Right now, there's no way to look up a flight, so you do have to know the specific airline and flight number you wish to track. Other than that, I think it's a really solid app.
Where can we get it and how much does it cost?
For a limited time you can pick up Just Landed for free in the iTunes store. The app is only about two months old and unfortunately right now it is only available for the iPhone. However, the developers have said that if the app does well an Android version is likely.
